Blog post notification service

30th March 2018 by Mark Potter Leave a Comment

After trying various approaches, I have now installed and tested an option for members only to get an email when a new blog post goes live, with the option of limiting this to certain categories (eg Member Only) if you prefer.

The process does require members to access their WordPress personal account dashboard, which is not normally visible.  Instructions are supplied in the NotHarry profile page (which is not the same as the WordPress user profile to which you will be redirected) and that becomes available on the Member Login tab AFTER you have logged in.

Please comment below if you want to leave feedback.

Trade Wars (m)

22nd March 2018 by Mark Potter Leave a Comment

One of the “main heading” risks that I used to raise with clients when I was an adviser is political risk.  I used to say politicians were unpredictable and sometimes irrational but could usually be relied upon to look after their own skins and to a degree that fact is a real control element in free societies, which is where most money gets invested.  That was pre a certain Donald Trump, of course!

Beware of wolves dressed as your kindly wealth manager (m)

21st March 2018 by Mark Potter Leave a Comment

Reading a piece this morning where a stock broker was explaining that it was hard to make a case for investing in bonds and in fact concluded with a proposal for an investment in “out of the money” convertibles
